Child Welfare Committee rescued a four-year-old girl on Friday night from Kajheri in Sector 52. The four-year-old was rescued from the custody of her mother who had kept her inside a small room since the last six months. The woman was admitted to the psychiatric department at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 Chandigarh. For the protection of the four-year-old girl, the Child Welfare Committee shifted her to a shelter home.
How The Girl Was Rescued
The mother of the four-year-old girl called the helpline number (1098) and said that some people are harassing her daughter. Immediately the local police and the members of child helpline rushed to the house and rescued the four-year-old girl. A team comprising local police personnel and sleuths of the child helpline unit rushed to the house after she made a call on the helpline number (1098) alleging that her daughter is being harassed by some people.
As per the senior member of Child Welfare Committee, The mother of the four-year-old girl called the helpline unit two days back. The team of Child Welfare Committee rushed to Kajheri but were unable to find her house address as the woman did not answer the call. The woman called the helpline unit on Friday night and Child Welfare Committee’s team successfully located the house address.
As per sources, the Child Welfare Committee’s team reached the house address and were stunned to see the miserable condition of the four-year-old. The girl’s father also rushed to the spot immediately. The girl’s father said that they had been divorced. He said that he was not allowed to meet his four-year-old daughter and his wife was still under his guardianship.
The Woman’s Pathetic Condition
The woman had hallucinations against her four-year-old daughter said the director of Child Helpline, Chandigarh. He said that she used to hallucinate that someone will be hurting her and that is why she kept her in a small confined room away from everyone. The woman also filed a FIR against her husband two years back. She filed an FIR against her husband saying that her husband abuses the girl. However, nothing was proved against her husband.
A DDR has been lodged and the SHO of Sector 36 Chandigarh has asked the Child Helpline committee to shift the woman to the psychiatric department at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 Chandigarh.
