
The beautiful city of Chandigarh is so much talked about in the world that the President of France could not resist his temptation to see Chandigarh during his India visit for the Republic Day 2016. Not just this, the French President expressed his desire to visit Chandigarh before New Delhi where he’ll be the Chief Guest at Republic Day parade.
Chandigarh was made by the French architect Le Corbusier and hence France President wants to see this well-designed city of the World. Chandigarh is often compared to Paris in terms of beauty as both these cities are the most clean, green and beautiful. Those who know Chandigarh, often call it is as ‘Paris of India’ to describe the beauty of this perfect city.
France President’s Plan for Chandigarh Visit
Francois Hollande, the President of France will star from France and land directly at the Chandigarh International Airport. This is also the first time when an international official plane of any country will land at the newly built Chandigarh International Airport.
Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi will also come to Chandigarh to receive the President of France. Both the leaders will officially meet at Chandigarh and then go around the city on a tour. The tourist places which will be visited by Francois Hollande include:
- Chandigarh Capitol Complex including the open hand monument, secretariat building and the High Court building.
- Rock Garden – A garden of international repute which was built from waste material by Nek Chand.
- Sector 17 Plaza – The open mall of Chandigarh.
- Tagore Theatre
- Le Corbusier Centre in Sector 19.
According to information from other media sources, President of France will stay at Hotel Taj in Sector 17. Special arrangements have been made for this purpose.
All the roads from where France President and the Indian prime Minister will pass have been decked up with new paint, green plants and lot more. The security in the city has been increased to many folds with help from the Central Government as well as Punjab & Haryana Government.
