Furniture on Rent? Is it a Viable Option, Find Out

Starting a new life? What is the first thing that comes to your mind? Home. To build a happy life we need a happy home.

Although we are on the verge of challenging all of our ancient ideas about stability and right choices, yet, a place with full of comfort and privacy is mandatory for everyone. Permanent and temporary can be optional but comfort, luxury and pocket-friendly cannot be.

When it comes to home what is the first thing that comes to our mind? It is furniture. Furniture is not only a requirement but it represents your social standard and taste too.

You have to spend a lot of money to have a comfortable life as good quality furniture doesn’t come cheap.

But now we have a new trend in the market. Rent furniture online. But have you ever really evaluated the plus and minus points this option has. Why rent furniture? Let’s solve this puzzle by throwing some light at every low and high aspect of renting furniture.

Capital Requirement

ProsLeasing furniture is an in-trend these days. Easy yet wonderful multiple choices, free delivery and pick-up, attractive price and hassle-free services. It all makes renting furniture more than alluring. If we talk about money, furnishing a 2BHK house requires a capital around 2 to 3 lacs excluding appliances.

It’s a deep cut in anyone’s pocket especially for those who are at the beginning of their life but don’t want to compromise on comfort. Additionally, if your job needs you to move a lot, buying furniture is equal to a very bad investment.

Either, you will have to shift it or sell it, both ways you will end up losing a lot of money. Shifting the 2BHK furniture from one city to another would take up around 15 to 25 thousand rupees and furniture resell market is a doomed way to get rid of your furniture anyway.

Cons– There is only one thing that can bother you after some time. Furniture on rent is always a current expense. Buying might dig deep in your pocket but once done it’s done. But rent you have to keep on paying as long as you want to use the furniture.

Shifting And Moving

Pros– Free shifting (limited) and free moving (limited) from one city to another is very useful and significant. We all can agree that change is the most important aspect of life in modern times.

The more you move, the more you can grow. Small things like how to manage furniture, should not become a big hurdle in your way to the top. So don’t stick your feet anywhere. Stand on the solid ground and keep growing. Not to forget the damage that can be caused to the goods  during shifting and moving.

Cons-You would have to depend and coordinate a lot on the services of the company you are using for the services and sometimes it is a little frustrating.

Maintenance

Pros  Polishing, repairing, deep cleaning and basic caretaking would cost you around 15 to 20 thousand per year. Although this amount is not exorbitant, let’s not forget that you are spending this amount on an asset which has a depreciating rate of almost 25% per year.

Cons– In case you take the maintaining part too lightly, at the time of returning the rented furniture, the company can charge you for some unexpected damages.

Flexibility

Pros- Renting gives us unlimited flexibility. Changing the furniture as per your mood, as per your requirement or as per the trend would not cost you any extra money. But buying pushes towards using the same furniture for a very long time until you are forced to sell or it’s not usable anymore.

Cons– This can always make you feel a little uprooted and may be making up mind would be tricky as more options make us feel more confused.
