Rock Garden, Chandigarh

When we talk about gardens in Chandigarh, the list has to start with Rock Garden. This paradise of rocks created by Nek Chand Saini is located in Sector 1 of Chandigarh. It is a must-see for any tourist who visits Chandigarh. Spread over 40 acres, this garden in Chandigarh has been built solely with home and industrial wastes, in addition to the thrown-away items.

More than 5,000 people visit this place daily to witness the man made marvel. This inspirational garden showcases the passion of a creative person to create wonder from waste to construct heaven on earth.

Entry Fee: Rs. 10

Timings: 9:00 AM till 7:00 PM in evening. Winter timings are till 5:00 PM.

Rose Garden, Sector 16

Amidst the green belts that provide a green shield to this beautiful city, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Chandigarh is spread over 30 acres land and houses the largest variety of roses in the country. It is Asia’s largest Rose Garden with 50,000 Rose plants and 1600 species of Roses.

Besides the Roses, one can also see ornamental trees and medicinal plants in the garden. There is no entry fee or specific visiting time to enter this garden but the best time to visit the garden is during the annual Rose Festival when the plants are in full bloom and attracts tourists from different parts of the country.

Terraced Garden, Sector 33

The lush green Terraced Garden in Chandigarh is another must visit garden of the city for some rare kind of flowers. The garden is named as Terraced garden due to different levels, shapes and terrace design.

There is neither an entry fee nor any visiting time limit to enter this garden but the best time to visit is during the annual Chrysanthemum Show also popular as the ‘Chandigarh Flower Festival’ when different varieties of Chrysanthemum flower are displayed beside other attractions such as Animal figures made by flowers, Rangoli made by flowers, Flower exhibition et al. This one of kind festival is mostly organised in December every year.

Japanese Garden, Sector 31

Chandigarh offers a bouquet of memories to the visitors and has remained a hot spot for tourists. The awe-inspiring Japanese Garden in Sector 31, Chandigarh, spread over an area of 13 acres attracts tourists from the neighbouring as well as satellite states in the country. The garden consists a Buddha idol, pagoda towers, water bodies, waterfalls, meditation centre, golden bamboos and other attractive designs and artistic marvels.

This, one of a kind garden in the state has been designed beautifully using Japanese architecture. All the elements have been crafted cautiously to incorporate the unique Japanese touch in the Garden. There is no entry fee for visiting the Garden and the timings are morning 5:00 am until evening 11:00 pm.

Garden of Fragrance, Sector 36

Located in Sector- 36, the Garden of Fragrance is yet another must visit garden the City. As the name suggests, this garden in Chandigarh houses a variety of flowers possessing soothing and refreshing fragrances that rejuvenate your mind and mood. With a large variety of Roses (Gulaab), Plumeria (Champa), Night Blooming Jasmine (Raat ki Rani), Jasmine (Chameli), Pansy (Banaphool) and various other fragrant and beautiful flowers this garden infuses fragrance in every nook and corner of the park and is an added feature for the joggers and those visiting the park for a daily walk. There is no entry fee or visiting time to enter this garden.
