GATE 2019: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) has introduced new paper of Statistics for the students appearing for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering to be held in the year 2019. Although the online application process for GATE 2019 has been closed by IIT Madras on 23 September 2018. Now the actual race to clear the GATE Exam 2019 starts for those who have filled the application form.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE Exam) is all set to be conducted by IIT Madras for the year 2019 in the month of February. For the new year of the GATE Exam, IIT Madras has brought some additions in the paper as well. Check out the syllabus for the new Paper added in the GATE Exam 2018 below.
GATE 2019: Here’s the details Syllabus of New Statistics Paper
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras on the official website of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) only added that there will be 24 papers instead of 23 in the year 2019. Interested students can now appear for the new subject added in the GATE exam 2019 i.e statistics (ST). Calculus- it will contain questions from topics like real number system, countable and uncountable sets, finite, sequences and series, Functions of 2 or 3 variables, convergence, differentiability, Improper integrals and more. Then comes the linear algebra, that will have topics like Linear transformation and matrix representation, minimal polynomial and so on. Further, it will have questions from Probability chapter like relative frequency, independent events, probability inequalities, independence of random variables, product moment and may more.
Then comes the chapter called Stochastic Processes that will contain question from the classification of states, stationary distribution, Poisson and birth and death processes and more. Another is of Inference that will contain questions from sufficiency, tests of hypotheses, consistency, unbiasedness, completeness, sign test and so on. Next one will be regression analysis and the same will have the question from partial & multiple correlation coefficients, simple & multiple regression, polynomial regression. Last 2 chapters for GATE Statistics paper for the year 2019 are the Multivariate analysis and design of experiments that will contain questions like- multinomial distribution, principal component analysis, clustering, Wishart distribution, CRD, LSD, RBD and so on.
Marking Scheme and more details of GATE 2019
As far as the marking scheme of the IIT Madras for GATE Exam 2019 is concerned, for each wrong answer of 1 marks, there will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks and for 2 marks question, there will be a deduction of 2/3 marks. Although the exam of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering has been scheduled on 2, 3, 9 and 10 February 2018.
