GATE Exam 2019 May be Compulsory for Engineering Degree | Know the Reason Why?

GATE 2019: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has taken a decision to make GATE Exam compulsory for Engineering degree from 2019 onwards. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score as of now has been an admission process for some engineering colleges. From 2019 onwards, AICTE is planning to make it compulsory for engineering aspirants to clear GATE for their degrees.

As of now GATE Exam for the year 2019 has been scheduled in the month of February and even the online application process has been closed for the same. Know the reason behind the decision and much more details regarding the same below.

GATE Exam to be Compulsory for Students to get Engineering Degree

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has made it compulsory for Engineering students to clear GATE Exam to get their respective degrees. Recently in a meeting held between AICTE officials, the decision has been taken that Engineering students have to appear for an Exit exam to get their respective degrees. As of now, only a few institutions use to accept GATE score for Engineering admission. Although from the session 2019-20, Students will only get their Engineering degrees only if they clear GATE Exam.

If any student fails to clear his/ her GATE exam at once will not get the engineering degree and he/ she has to re-appear for the same. The Institute will only giveaway the degrees to the engineering students, the moment they clear their Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Exam.

Know Why AICTE has taken the decision to make GATE compulsory?

According to reports every year, a total of 7 Lakh candidates clear their Engineering degrees from around 3000 institutes in India but end up with unemployment. Now AICTE has taken up the decision to make GATE compulsory to reduce down the unemployed engineers level in India from 2019 onwards.

AICTE got a mixed reaction to its decision, as some faculty appreciated it, whereas some opposed the same. Although AICTE is yet to roll out the official notice to all the institutions regarding the same. Once AICTE issued and notification, all the institutions have to follow the same and no students will get their Engineering degree without clearing GATE Exam from session 2019-20 onwards. So, Engineering aspirants prepare yourself accordingly as your degree is on stake without GATE Exam.
