According to the report, to enhance its ranking in the Swachh Sarvekshan, the civic body of the municipal corporation, Chandigarh came up with this novel idea to offer free parking to commuters using the parking lots in Chandigarh.

Aiming at getting good ranking in the upcoming Swachh Sarvekshan, a new offer has been rolled out by the civic body, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Under the offer, commuters in Chandigarh can access the paid parking lots in Chandigarh free of cost until the New Year Eve.

Just download the Swachhata MoHUA app in your Smartphone to access the paid parking lots in Chandigarh free of cost. It has been decided by the civic body that all the commuters in the city who are using the paid parking lots of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation can access the parking lots without paying any charges by showing the Swachhata MoHUA app in their smartphones. The offer will commence from December 27 and will go on till the New Year Eve.

One of the significant features to get good ranking in the upcoming Swachh Sarvekshan is public participation in uploading Swachhata MoHUA app. To successfully accomplish the good score parameter in the upcoming Swachh Sarvekshan, the Municipal Corporation is trying to register maximum number of residents in this segment for which it has rolled out the free parking offer for those who have Swachhata MoHUA app in their mobile phones.
The decision to offer free parking was taken in a Swachh Bharat Mission meeting, that was chaired by the commissioner municipal corporation-cum-mission director, Swachh Bharat Mission. Offering free access to commuters on the New Year Eve will be a gift to the residents on the New Year.
To access free parking throughout Chandigarh, the citizens can collect the free parking coupons from Municipal Corporation kiosks, which will be set up at different parking sites in Chandigarh and passes will be available at all the entry points of these parking lots.
