A Guy in Chandigarh Hits & Injures a Cyclist, a Bike Rider & 2 Women With His SUV

Road safety is becoming a major concern in Chandigarh. The police need to be really strict in this matter so that such incidents do not occur over and over. The administration should come up with a road safety plan for two-wheelers and the pedestrians.

Five people including pedestrians and two-wheelers got injured on Sunday in Sector 49/50. The incident happened when the driver of a speeding Duster lost balance and hit the five people. The speeding Duster hit two motorcyclists, two women pedestrians, and one cyclist from the rear side at the Sector 49/50 light point. The accident happened around 3 pm.

21-Year-Old Driver Arrested

All the five injured people were rushed to GMCH (Government Medical College and Hospital), Sector 32 Chandigarh. Their condition is stable and it is expected that they will be discharged soon. The 21-year-old driver of a speeding Duster has been arrested. Surya, the 21-year-old is a resident of Sector 7 Panchkula.

The five people who got injured and were rushed to the hospital are identified as Jaswinder Singh (motorcyclist), Satish Kumar (pillion rider), 28 year old Sushma (Pedestrian), 16 year old Maina (Pedestrian) and Raj Kumar (cyclist). Sector 49/50’s light point is not working.

How The Incident Happened

The SHO of Sector 49 police station said that Surya, the 21-year-old driver was driving his Duster at a high speed. The speeding Duster first hit the hit the motorcyclists, then cyclist and the two women.

The speeding car had three youths including Surya who was driving the car. Surya said that he was returning from a blood donation camp which was held at PCA Stadium in Mohali. Surya was coming back with his friends when the car lost its balance.

As per sources, the 21-year-old was jammed at the spot and all the five injured people were rushed to GMCH (Government Medical College and Hospital), Sector 32 Chandigarh in police gypsies. A case has been registered against Surya at the Sector 49 Chandigarh police station. Medical tests of Surya have been done and no liquor content has been found in his body.
