Last year, one of the Panchkula’s MLA had written to the Haryana CM about getting the affiliation from Panjab University for its colleges in Panchkula and Ambala.

The reason why Haryana Government wants to get the affiliation from Panjab University is that the reputation of the varsity that will attract more and more students to the colleges. Many students do not wish to seek admissions in the colleges of Panchkula and Ambala due to its affiliation to the Kurukshetra University (KU). Also, it will be easier for the students residing at far off places, who want to study at PU affiliated colleges in Chandigarh. If the colleges near their area will be affiliated to the Panjab University will lessen the burden of computation for students as well as for the colleges situated in Chandigarh.

The meeting regarding the affiliation has already been held between the PU and the Haryana Education Department. For further discussion, a meeting with Haryana principal secretary for education is scheduled on or before July 11.
