Hero Xtreme 200R to Launch Soon | Might Be Priced Around Rs. 85,000, Know All Details

To compete with the segment leaders Pulsar and Apache, the Hero Xtreme 200R needs to be priced competitively in the Indian bike market

Hero Xtreme 200R has been unveiled ahead of the official launch at the Auto Expo next week. The motorcycle had been breaking the internet each time a picture was leaked and the company decided to stop teasing and showcased the bike in full glory. Xtreme 200R marks the entry of the Hero brand in the 200-350cc segment after it discontinued its flagship Karizma last year. The concept motorcycle was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2016 and it will finally be launched at the same event two years later this week. The production model is similar to the concept and borrows design features from other motorcycles from the company. Hero Xtreme 200R is a great package but it needs to be priced between 80,000 to 85,000 to make a strong case against some other popular bikes in this segment.

Hero Xtreme 200R: Features and Specifications

The new Xtreme 200R by Hero Motocorp gets a bold and butch styling with an imposing front stance thanks to the LED pilot lamps. The design cues continue to the fuel tank which is muscular and blends in with other muscular bits of the bike. It gets a single seat and disc brakes both on the front and rear. The Hero Xtreme 200R will get also get an ABS option on one of the variants which will make it better equipped to comply to the ABS norms that come into effect in April later this year.

Coming to the mechanicals, the motorcycle gets a 200cc engine which has been derived from the 160cc engine from the company’s smaller bikes. The engine is air cooled and gets fuel injection as well. Hero has mated the engine in the Xtreme 200R to a 5-speed gearbox which delivers a power of 18.4 BHP and 17.1Nm of torque. Top Speed is 114 kilometres an hour and it can go 0-60 in just a matter of 4.6 seconds. The only thing we did not particularly like was the instrument cluster which still carries analogue inputs in addition to a partial digital screen. At a 790mm height and 267mm ground clearance, the Hero Xtreme 200R is aimed at the commuters who look for a powerful weekend companion.

Price and Launch of the Hero Xtreme 200R in India

The bike goes against the likes of Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS and the Apache RTR 200 which have been the favourites in the segment since their launch. The Xtreme 200R targets the same buyer and the Hero offering makes a compelling case for itself. Although the bike has been unveiled, it will launch at the Auto Expo that is scheduled to be held from the 9th to 14th of February. Hero Xtreme 200R needs to be priced right to lock horns with the segment leaders – Pulsar and Apache and we think anything closer to 80,000 Rupees is a serious deal.
