Shimla: Himachal Pradesh has been under an avalanche and heavy snowfall warning in the state. Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment has released a notice and warned residents of heavy snowfall and avalanche. Although the warning has been issued for 5 districts of Himachal Pradesh.
Even the MeT department has predicted heavy snowfall in parts of Himachal like- Shimla, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and many more in coming days. Along with Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir has also been in the red alert as more snow expected in the region. Himachal Pradesh: Avalanche Warning issued for 5 Districts
Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment and MeT department have issued heavy snowfall and avalanche warning in the state. Although the warning has been issued in 5 districts of Himachal and people are advised to stay away. As per the warning, towns like Shimla, Chamba, Lahaul- Spiti, Kullu and Kinnaur has been under high alert. Even the Government has asked the disaster management team to monitor the situation closely.
According to reports, State Government has alerted the disaster management authorities to closely record the situation and act accordingly. Even asked the authorities to keep the rescue team on standby to deal with the immediate situation. Also, the government has advised the residents to stock essential items for emergency situations. Further, in an emergency, people can contact 1017 on State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
The reason behind Current Weather of Shimla & all over Himachal
Since the last week of January, high regions of Himachal have been covered with snow. Even in the first week of February only, MeT department alerted heavy snowfall in the region. Not only Himachal, but even Jammu-Kashmir and Uttarakhand have also been facing the same situation. According to the MeT department, the weather has been bad due to the western disturbance occurred in the Western Himalayan region.
Due to the western disturbance, heavy snowfall and avalanche have been predicted to hit the region. Even people are advised to stay away from Himachal Pradesh, as the situation may worst anytime and affect many lives in the region.
