Himachal’s Famous Marijuana is Being Sold on Instagram & Sent via Speed Post

After Udta Punjab, its Himachal Pradesh that is in the high spirits for wrong reasons. Known as the best tourist destinations in India, Himachal Pradesh is also world famous for Marijuana.

Till date, Himachal’s Parvati Valley, which is the chunk of Kullu-Manali region attracted a great number of druggies from around the world for the good quality, hand processed form of hash, a popular name for hashish/ charas/ cannabis/ Malana cream. But of lately, the news of these drugs being sold openly on social media has given nightmares to the authorities and officials who are against this menace.

Who knew that the mobile app Instagram known for connecting with people by sharing photographs would ever give a great platform to the drug peddlers. And this is not the end of the story. They even send it to several locations via speed posts.

### Hashtag (pun intended) driven Instagram is now flooded with convenient buyers and sellers of this narcotic substance from around the world by tagging their location as Kasol in Manali. Some of the dealers even post pictures on their Insta accounts of the rolled up hash and different sized packets depending on how much they weigh, to lure buyers. While some even share their phone numbers for direct contact.

The interested buyers are then inboxed privately for finalizing the deal and then it is later packed in packets and boxes to be sent via speed post. The substance is even delivered to Chandigarh for Rs 5000 per 10 gms approximately.

The dealing of drugs in Manali is not happening on the sly and the matter is also known to the police of Himachal Pradesh but nothing much has been done so far. Though the Himachal government has initiated to curb down the menace of drug production and selling in the state but the stern measure is still too be taken.
