Hyundai Verna vs Maruti Suzuki Ciaz | Features Against Easy Maintenance

Hyundai Verna just won car of the year in India earlier this week and the kind of package it delivers at a price point lower than its rivals and it truly deserves so. However, there is still a tight war in the C-Segment among the three cars- the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. We already gave you our thoughts on the former two; today we pitch the Verna against the Ciaz to see if Hyundai can really take on the Maruti Suzuki counterpart.

Hyundai Verna vs. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Looks

Hyundai Verna is one of the most popular vehicles in the Hyundai catalogue and one of the reasons is that the company has been able to design its cars with the Indian masses in mind. The Indian customers unlike the German counterparts do not like plain designs and are fond of cuts and creases. The Verna appeals to the more enthusiast customer while the Ciaz targets the sophisticated buyer. The interior of the Verna looks more premium and Hyundai has made sure the materials used are all premium. However, the Ciaz offers better space on the inside.

Hyundai Verna vs. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Performance

Performance has never been Maruti Suzuki’s forte and especially so when it comes to the diesel and the Ciaz too though never feels underpowered but fails to engage you as a driver. Hyundai has equipped the Verna with a tried and tested 1.6-litre engine which produces 126BHP of power and 260Nm of torque. The Ciaz in comparison makes 88BHP with 200Nm of torque from its Fiat sourced 1.3-litre DDis motor. The only thing going in its favour is that the Steering which feels really accurate.

Hyundai Verna vs. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Features

When we compared the Verna to the City, the Hyundai car came out to be victorious but the Ciaz is no City. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz comes with Apple Carplay, Android Auto, engine start/stop button, and a remote trunk opener. Features have been the talking point of all the Hyundai cars and it is no different in the Verna. The Verna too comes with Apple Carplay, Android Auto, lane change indicator, and a panoramic sunroof. However, with cruise control, ventilated seats and a cooled glove box it takes things a notch higher than the Ciaz.

Hyundai Verna vs. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Price

Once the king of this segment, the Honda City has been on the backseat after it increased the prices three years ago which gave Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz a chance to cater to the audience who looked for value for money. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the most affordable car in this segment starting at 7.89 Lakh Rupees.

The Hyundai Verna on the other hand comes for an asking price of 8 Lakh Rupees but if you really want the features of the Hyundai then going for the top end variant of the Verna makes sense which will set you back 12.88 Lakh Rupees. For a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, automatic headlamps and other countless small bits and pieces, this price does seem fair.
