IGNOU To Introduce 10 New Programmes for Health Sector From 2018

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is all set to introduce a new course of Healthcare sector from new session 2018. Under the healthcare course, IGNOU will train almost 14 Lakh youth of India in 4 years. As per the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed between IGNOU and Health ministry, one of the largest Open University will now train students for the healthcare sector.

Although the main objective of the MoU was to create trained personnel for the healthcare sector and improve the health programs. Even the objective stated that it will be good enough to set up the dedicated cell for implementing, developing and certifying the skill-based IGNOU Programs.

IGNOU 2018: University all set for 10 New Healthcare Courses

Under the initiative ‘Skills for life, Save a Life’ launched in 2017, IGNOU along with Health ministry will introduce 10 short-term training programmes from the year 2018. In the year 2015 only Health Ministry and Ministry of Skill Development signed a MoU and launched the initiative ‘Skills for life, Save a Life’, now under which IGNOU is all set to come up with 10 new courses from 2018.

Although at the very initial stage, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will introduce 4 new courses of healthcare sector i.e- General Duty Assistant, Home Health Aide, Geriatric Care Assistant and Phlebotomist. After the successful run of these courses, IGNOU will launch 6 more courses in healthcare sectors like- EMT-Basic, Diabetes Educator, Dispensing Optical/ VT, Dietetic Aide and Medical Equipment Technology Assistant from 2018 onwards.

From 2015 onwards, the Govt has trained almost 2700 First responders from 12 different states. Almost 200 masters and 35 state Government Training Institutes will run these 10 new courses from IGNOU to promote the same. Although IGNOU has been assigned the task to make ready 14 Lakh youth till 2025 so to employee them under Modi’s initiative of Ayushman Bharat.

Along with the healthcare sector, Indira Gandhi National Open University has also started new courses from 2018 like- M.A in Development Studies, Special Courses for Police Aspirants, Event Management, First Aid Program, Tribal Studies and Life & Thoughts of B.R Ambedkar.
