The successful coaches of cricket teams of different countries do get an automatic extension but Anil Kumble failed to get an automatic extension from the BCCI.

Anil Kumble had a great time with the Indian Cricket Team. Selection Committee For Indian Cricket Team’s New Head Coach

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have been given a responsibility by the BCCI to select Indian cricket team’s new head coach.

Last year, the BCCI started their search for Indian cricket team’s head coach. Though Ravi Shastri, former Indian cricketer and presently a commentator was a strong contender for the post of head coach. Unfortunately, Ravi Shastri was not elected as a head coach and the responsibility was given to Anil Kumble.

Ravi Shastri also did a tremendous job as a director of the Indian cricket team. Shastri was the director of the team till the T20 World Cup where India got eliminated in the semi-finals against West Indies.

Ravi Shastri had a strong relationship with Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli also appreciated Shastri’s presence in the dressing room which helped bring a positive environment amongst the Indian players. Virat Kohli took over the Test captaincy from MS Dhoni during the early 2015 India vs Australia series.

Anil Kumble is considered one of the most successful spin bowlers in world cricket and has also captained the national team in the presence of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly. It will be interesting to see whether the trio finds Kumble capable of continuing as Indian team’s head coach or not.
