International Puppet Festival (Feb 2017) at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh

You might think that Puppet shows are a thing of the past but actually, they are a great source of entertainment even today. Once again, the International Puppet Festival is coming to Chandigarh with 15th edition for the year 2017. Tagore theatre is all set to showcase 15th International Puppet Festival 2017 in Chandigarh.

The 4 days International Puppet Festival 2017 in Chandigarh will showcase different stories through puppet act. All the puppet act in International Puppet Festival will be performed by various artists from the different corners of the world. International Puppet Festival is an annual event that is being organised by the Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust in different parts of India every year.

2017 Puppet Shows at Chandigarh:

All the 4 days of the 15th International Puppet Festival has been filled with talented artists from all around the world. Each day one story will be staged in the Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh by different artists. The line up of the Puppet show are as below-

• February 3– On the very first day of the 15th International Puppet Festival in Chandigarh, the curtain will be raised for the show of ‘The Theft of Sita’,that will be performed by Sanggar Paripurna Puppet Theatre from Indonesia. The act will be a modern reinterpretation of the epic ‘Ramayana’ through a puppet show.

• February 4- Fairouz Nustas Puppet Theatre from Palestine will be performing ‘Home, Sweet Home’ on the second day of the International Puppet Festival 2017 in Chandigarh. ‘Home, Sweet Home’ is based on 2 traditional Palestinian folk tales which is filled with fun, adventure and fantasy of many mischievous puppets.

• February 5- The third day performance will be staged by Kuch Kuch Puppet Theatre from India. ‘Hamara Circus’ is the name of the act that will only be performed in Chandigarh’s Tagore Theatre. This act is a series of small string puppet vignettes where scarf’s, dalmatian’s, dancers, snake charmers and others come to life.

• February 6- The final day will showcase ‘The Lantern Festival’ performed by a group from Taiwan, named as Chin Fei Feng Marionette Theatre Troupe. This act will showcase the New year celebration of Taiwanese and Chinese through puppets.

Chandigarhians, the stage has been set and the artists are also ready to entertain you, even the puppet are also prepared to welcome you in the 15th International Puppet Festival 2017 at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh.
