Mobile Internet Services Suspended in Chandigarh, Punjab And Haryana For 3 Days

To put a tap on any messages or videos in the rape case verdict by CBI court in Panchkula Dera against Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Haryana Home Secretary Ram Niwas declared that Mobile internet and data services will remain suspended in Haryana, Punjab and the joint capital Chandigarh from today.

When will the services suspend?

According to reports, the mobile internet and data services will be suspended from midnight today and will remain suspended for next 72 hours. The move is aimed to discontinue the spreading of videos and messages that are being viral on the social media and that may trigger violence in the states.

What will happen?

In the dearth of mobile internet and data services facilities, the anti-social elements will not be able to use the information in a wrong way that may lead to worse situations in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and other neighboring places. This move may also affect several genuine users who require the internet services for professional commitments.

Similar suspension of internet in Haryana

Similar to this order of suspending mobile internet and data services in the state, the state government had done this during the Jat stir a couple of months back. The government had ordered prohibitory orders under Section 144 while also suspending the internet services in many ‘sensitive’ districts of Haryana. In the wake of the Jat body’s plan to ghearo the Parliament the state government had suspended the internet services for an indefinite period.

Dera chief to appear in the CBI court tomorrow

Rumors were being built that dera Sach Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh may attend the hearing via video conferencing but through a Tweet, the sect chief has assured to appear in the CBI court in Panchkula tomorrow. Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has also appealed for peace in his tweet.

According to reports, a lawyer for guru’s sect had declared that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had been unwell for a while but his condition has improved now. Confirming the same, dera chief expressed on the social media that he will be present in the court tomorrow. The tweet from the official id of the Dera chief read, “I have always obeyed the Law. Though I have pain in my back, being a law abiding citizen, I shall definitely appear in court. I have firm belief on the almighty. All should maintain peace.”
