According to the conducting authorities of the Joint Entrance Mains exam, some major changes have been incorporated in the exam pattern bringing them in with effect from 2017 onwards. These changes in the JEE Mains 2018 exam pattern shall also be reflected which are iterated to the candidates via their official website of the Central Board of Secondary Education conducting the exam this April 2018. The first major change brought about by CBSE in the JEE Mains 2018 exam pattern is that only those candidates who secure more than 75% marks in their Class 12th exams shall gain admissions into prestigious technical institutions like IITs/NITS/IIITs etc. via the JEE Advanced or JEE Mains ranks. Moreover, the next change that has been introduced in the JEE Mains 2018 exam is their criteria set for the rank calculation wherein no weightage has been assigned to the marks obtained by the candidates in their Class 12th board exams. This means that the system of rank calculations is purely done on the basis of the marks scored by the aspirant in the Joint Entrance Mains 2018 examination itself. Although, some minimum marks and percentage critreia as an eligibility criteria remains valid as mentioned herein in ‘No weightage to class 12th marks in JEE Mains 2018 rank calculation’.

The Mains exam part of the JEE 2018 is carried out in both the modes, online as well as offline, complete schedule of which is mentioned online. The aspirants who are able to crack the JEE Mains 2018 exam shall then have to take the JEE advanced exam scheduled in May 2018 this year available in online mode only.
