Who are eligible for Josaa 2017?

A candidate may be eligible for seat allocation based on qualification in either one, two or all three examinations viz., JEE (Advanced) 2017, JEE (Main) 2017 Paper-1 (B.E. / B.Tech.) and JEE (Main) 2017 Paper-2 (B.Arch. /B.Planning). However, merely qualifying in these examinations does not guarantee admission in any of the Institute. Each Institute / academic program has additional eligibility requirements which candidates have to satisfy to get admission. Those qualifying in JEE (Advanced) are eligible for admission to IITs.

It is important for candidates to prioritize the academic programs while filling in the choices as only ONE seat from the choices filled is made available.

According to the schedule released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2017 on its official website the first round of Seat Allotment will be held on June 28, 2017; whereas the first round reporting for Seat Acceptance should be done from June 29 to July 03, 2017.

Candidates are given a 12 day window to fill-in their choices which includes 2 mock seat allocations on the 6th and 9th day. This 12-day window will not be extended under any circumstance. Candidates should choose as many academic programs as possible in the order of preference and take advantage of the mock seat allocations.

Candidates must “lock” their choices after 2nd mock seat allocation. If they don’t lock their choices, the last saved choice will be locked automatically and No further changes can be made in their preference order.

Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform. This year, an aspirant has to secure 75 per cent marks to be eligible for seat allocation. As there is a significant variation in the percentage marks of toppers among boards, the category-wise top 20 percentile score of successful candidates of each board is used as an alternative for the benefit of the candidates.
