Yes, you read it right! Kamal Haasan will host Bigg Boss now. Shocked! Well, Kamal Haasan, the multi-faceted personality, has set the ball rolling for his debut on television in the biggest reality show Bigg Boss and that too in his own style. The actor, producer, director, screenwriter, playback singer and lyricist is hosting the Tamil version of the reality show which is being aired on Vijay TV. Ahhh! In Tamil language and on Vijay TV, now that’s a big relief, isn’t it!
Well, the announcement that no one is replacing Bhaijaan is reason enough to smile and ease out the stress. For all the Salman Khan fans and those who religiously follow ‘Bigg Boss’, the Hindi version is still with Salman Khan, the season 10 of which ended this year. But the Tamil version too offers similar entertainment and curiosity. Let’s see what is there to see…
Bigg Boss Tamil & Kamal Haasan
The popular TV reality show Bigg Boss (Tamil version) kicked off on 25 June on Vijay Television (Star Vijay). The Hindi version of Bigg Boss hosted by Salman Khan is a great hit on the Indian television and has been a major TRP churner for the channel. With Kamal Haasan, as host for the Tamil version who is the recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, the expectations are indeed very high from the show. Hindi version of the television reality show Bigg Boss aired on Colors channel follows the Big Brother format developed by Endemol in the Netherlands. With 10 successful seasons, it is one of the most successful reality shows on Indian television.
‘Bigg Boss’ famous for eye candies in the house
Bigg Boss has remained one of the most popular reality shows that houses sensuous housemates to keep its audience glued to the television sets. Though the list is huge but some of the stars who have set the Bigg Boss house on fire in the earlier editions with their curvy, vivacious, magnetizing, hot and appealing looks and attires include Claudia Ciesla, Porn star Sunny Leone, Pamela Anderson, Sofia Hayat, Sherlyn Chopra, Veena Malik, Rakhi Sawant, Aanchal Kumar, Tanaaz Irani, Shweta Tiwari, Karishma Tanna, Diana Hayden, Shonali Nagrani, Pooja Mishra, Gauhar Khan, Hazel Keech and numerous others.
Big Boss (Telgu) Housemates?
The 15 contestants in the first season of Tamil version of Bigg Boss has a few well-known faces of Tamil cinema besides an amalgamation of comedians, up-and-coming and struggling actors from the Tamil film industry.
- Shree
Shree was the first contestant to enter the house. After his film career debut with Vazhakku Enn 18/9 (2012) he became a popular face. Shree has acted in movies like Vil Ambu, Soan Papdi and Maanagaram in the year 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively.
- Anuya Bhagvath
The second contestant in the house was Anuya who made it to the stage with a dance performance. She remained in the news due to a scandal sparked by RJ singer Suchitra though she shot to fame after her debut Tamil film Siva Manasula Sakthi. The movie commercially hit movie was released in the year 2009.
- Vaiyapuri
For senior comedian Vaiyapuri the choice of making it to the Bigg Boss house is definitely a tough one. The actor began his career in in 1993 and has been a part of hundreds of films so far.
- Gayathri Raghuram
Actor-director-choreographer Gayathri Raghuram, is one of the celebrated names in the industry to have entered the Bigg Boss house. After debuting in 2002 with movie Charlie Chaplin she later switched towards choreography. Her directorial debut ‘Yaathumaagi Nindral’ based on background dancers, is yet to be released.
- Bharani
Though actor Bharani made an impressive debut with superhit film, Naadodigal but he could not keep the impression alive as three films after his debut failed to leave a mark on the box office.
- Raiza Wilson
Success in the tinsel town is yet to be tasted by model Raiza Wilson who was also Miss India pageant contestant. Awaiting for her first break the model hopes to gain some fame out of the Bigg Boss platform for the right opportunities in the industry.
- Snehan
Poet-actor Snehan is a known name in the Tamil film industry who has written lyrics for over 2,500 songs. He began his journey as a song writer with 1997 film, Putham Pudhiya Poove. He has also tried his hands in acting and his debut film was Yogi (2009).
- Oviya
Oviya has acted in numerous films in Telugu and Malayalam but the female actor rose to fame with the comedy film Kalavani in 2010.
- Harathi Ganesh
Harathi Ganesh’s popularity rose to fame with the stand-up comedy show ‘Asatha Povathu Yaaru’? The comedy actor and reality TV show contestant has also participated in dance reality show ‘Maanada Mayilada’.
- Aarar
Model and actor Aarar has been featured in hundreds of advertisements and has played a small role in Vijay Antony’s 2016 film, Saithan.
- Ganja Karuppu
One of the established names in the industry Comedian Ganja Karuppu, the Bigg Boss contestant is known for his role in the films like Paruthiveeran, Raam, Subramaniyapuram, Kalavani and Naadodigal.
- Juliana
A nurse by profession Juliana is a non-celebrity candidate who shot to fame during Jallikattu protest in Tamil Nadu.
- Ganesh Venkatram
Model-turned-actor Ganesh Venkatram is another well-known faces on the Bigg Boss housemates list. Successful model and Gladrags Mr India 2003 winner represented India in Mr. World pageant in 2004. He endevoured in the film industry with The Angrez (2006) a cult comedy film and since then there was no looking back. He has done various lead and supporting roles in Tamil films including Abhiyum Naanum, Panithuli and Thani Oruvan.
- Sakthi Vasudevan
Son of noted director P Vasu, Sakthi Vasudevan bagan his film career in 1991 as a child artist in his father’s super hit film Chinna Thambi. He has starred in Ninaithale Inikkum in 2009 and is expected to be seen in the remake of one of his father’s film Shivalinga (Kannada).
- Namitha
Namitha is an established film actress and certainly needs no preface. Winner of ‘Miss Surat’ title Namitha went on to participate in Miss India pageant in 2001 but ended up as the 4th runner-up. She has acted in a number of Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall Namitha is one of the tallest actresses in the tinsel town.
