Karwa Chauth 2017: Puja Muhurat, Moon Rise Time, Timings & All Details

All Indian Married Women celebrate Karwa Chauth or Karva Chauth every year. This year Karwa Chauth will be celebrated on Sunday, October 08. According to the Hindu Calender, Karwa Chauth Festival falls in the month of Karthik during the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi. Karwa Chauth or Karva Chauth festival is mainly celebrated by the Women of North India.

Karwa Chauth 2017 – Details

On the Festival or eve of Karwa Chauth, married women fast without food and water (nirjala vrat) from the time of sunrise to moonrise. Karwa Chauth Vrat is observed the ritual for the well being of their husbands. Indian Married women, start the fast or Karva Chauth Vrat at the time of Sunrise and breaks the fast after offerings prayers to the moon. During the Prayers at moonrise, women offer water to the moon. Karwa Chauth is a traditional Festival which is celebrated mostly in parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.

The festival falls on the 4th day after full moon. Unmarried women also join the Karwa Chauth for their fiances. Karwa Chauth Festival also coincides with the wheat Sowing time. The earthen pots in which wheat is kept is also called Karvas. There are many Traditional Tales about the Karwa Chauth – The Story of Queen Veervati, The Legend of Mahabharata, The Legend of Karva and The Story of Satyavan and Savitri.

This year, the Puja Muhurat of Karwa Chauth Fast or Vrat will start at 06:03 pm. The muhurta will ends at 07:17 pm. This year Karwa Chauth Moon will rise at 08:27 pm. On 8 October 2017, the Chaturthi Tithi will begin at 04:58 PM and it will ends on 9th October at 02:16 pm.
