With the government’s decision to make it mandatory to link Aadhaar cards with most of the important documentation and services such as bank accounts, PAN (permanent account numbers), Income Tax Return (ITR), Mobile Phones and social security schemes, here is the list of dates that one just cannot ignore.

With the deadline approaching for linking the Aadhaar number with these services, the centre government has extended the deadline for obtaining Aadhaar number to avail government schemes as well as subsidies. The government has extended the date to link Aadhaar card number by three months.

December 31 – Deadline for linking Aadhaar card with PAN
For tax returns, it has been made mandatory for the PAN card holder to link Aadhaar number with the PAN card number. According to report, all PAN card holders need to link their PAN cards with Aadhaar number by December 31, 2017. The date to link PAN card number with Aadhaar number has been extended till December 31 to help taxpayers. Earlier, the deadline to link Aadhaar number with PAN was August 31, 2017.
According to the Income Tax Department, linking of Aadhaar number with PAN card has been made mandatory for processing ITRs for the assessment year 2017-18. It has been further reported that if the deadline of December 31 is skipped, the return could be considered invalid.
February 6, 2018 – Deadline for linking Aadhaar with mobile number
All major telecom companies such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, BSNL, Reliance and Idea cellular have been sending alerts to all its customers about linking their Aadhaar number with their mobile (SIM) numer.
The message that is being sent to the consumers reads as ‘As per the government directive, linking Aadhaar to your mobile (SIM) number is mandatory for all existing customers.’
It has been reported that it is mandatory that the Aadhaar-based re-verification needs to be completed by all Telecom operators before February 6, 2018.
December 31, 2017 – Deadline for linking Aadhaar with banks
In addition to mobile (SIM) number and PAN number, banks too have been directed to link Aadhaar number of their existing bank account holders with their account numbers. December 31, 2017 is the deadline for linking Aadhaar number with bank accounts as well as other financial institutions. According to a revenue department notification, if the deadline of December 31, 2017 is missed to link Aadhaar number with the bank accounts, all the consumer’s accounts will be ceased.
December 31, 2017 – Deadline for linking Aadhaar to avail social security schemes
For availing all social security schemes, it has been made mandatory to link Aadhaar number by December 31, 2017. In order to avail all the social security schemes such as pension, government scholarships, LPG cylinders and others it has been made compulsory to provide his or her Aadhaar card details.
Though the government has made Aadhaar number mandatory for the above-mentioned products and documents but it has plans to further make it necessary to link Aadhaar number with driving licence. The move to link Aadhaar with Licence is aimed at checking the menace of multiple licensing
