Now You’ll Be Able to Watch ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ Movie in India

The much awaited and much-hyped Hindi film, ‘Lipstick under my Burkha’ has now got a thumbs up for its release in India. This Konkana Sen Sharma, starter movie was in much controversy due to its plot that narrates women’s sexual orientation and her struggles in everyday life.

Why was ‘Lisptick under my burkha’ banned by the Indian Film Board

After walking over thorns thrown by the Indian film board, the hindi film ‘Lipstick under my Burkha’ will now hit the Indian theatres. Though its release date is yet to be declared officially but the film has received the clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The reason behind the ban of the feminist drama, Lipstick under my Burkha were the dialogues consisting swear words, audio pornography, and a reference to the section of ladies from minority, which may offend in the community.

Konkana Sen Sharma plays the main protagonist in the film featuring Ratna Pathak and Ahana Kumra in supporting roles. In the direction of Alankrita Shrivastava, the Bollywood flick ‘Lipstick under my Burqa’ features the story of four ladies from the different strata of life and their sexual fantasy above life. The stills and the trailer of the movie Lipstick under my Burkha is already creating a rage on the youtube. The movie was screened last year and has won the prize at the Tokyo international film festival. Earlier this month, the film Lipstick under my Burkha was also featured at the film festival that was held in Los Angeles.

Though the movie Lipstik under my Burqa was under the scanner of  Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but it received full support from the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). They believed that no film can be banned in India just on the basis of its plot that revolves around the women sexual fantasies and her orientation about love beyond life.

Let’s see what changes Lipstick under my Burkha will make to the Indian cinema and on the Indian audiences. But for sure, the filmmaker and the actors are thriving their best to empower women in the Indian society by presenting them on the global platform.
