The relaxation period for the people of Ludhiana just got over when the Ludhiana police start issuing challans to the traffic violators. The police will be getting more strict now, the traffic violation fines will also be increased.

The Ludhiana police issued a total of 683 challans to the traffic violators in the last six days. The challans were issued against the traffic violators after a month’s relaxation.

One Month Of Relaxation Period Over

The people of Ludhiana were issued 683 challans by the Ludhiana police for drink driving, triple riding, wrong parking and riding vehicles without a helmet. The former police commissioner had ordered that the Ludhiana police will not be issuing challans for a month as a goodwill gesture.

On April 19, the drive was revised again and the police’s main focus is on these traffic violations: drink driving, triple riding, wrong parking and riding vehicles without a helmet.

Challans Issued On A Daily Average

The drive has been revised and the department issued 80 challans on a daily average for driving vehicles without a helmet, 7 challans on a daily average for triple riding and drink driving and 15 challans on a daily average for wrong parking.

As per sources, 307 challans on a daily average were issued for driving vehicles without a helmet in January and February. 23 challans on a daily average for triple riding, 202 challans on a daily average in Ludhiana for wrong parking and 7 challans on a daily average for drink driving were also issued in January and February.

Strict Fines For All The Traffic Violators

A traffic activist said that the department had been working effectively and efficiently since past few months and there was no need of giving a one-month relaxation to the people. He said in a month’s gap the Ludhiana police did not initiate any awareness drive. He was puzzled by the fact that why the former police commissioner had done that but he said it is time to enforce the law. He felt that the Ludhiana department has done a good thing by acting strictly against the traffic violators.

The commissioner of police in Ludhiana, traffic said that they have started the drive again and they are focusing on some particular traffic violations in some specific areas. He said that they will be increasing the restrictions with time and they are also working to maintain a smooth traffic flow in Ludhiana.
