Mahindra to Launch an Electric Version of KUV100 & Scorpio | Here’s What You Should Know

Mahindra has been in all kinds of news for its ambitious plans for electric cars in India. The company is all set to launch the Mahindra KUV100 as an electric car in the country and the spy pictures of the same have started coming in already. KUV100 will be the fourth electric car for the homegrown automaker Mahindra since it has e20 plus, e-verito on sale and the Mahindra Scorpio electric is already in the works.

Mahindra KUV100 and Scorpio will give a head start to the company in the electric car segment

Mahindra’s huge plans for electric cars in India are no secret as the homegrown automaker has been working on the same for a decade. Mahindra’s e20 plus and e-verito have been on sale in the country for a while now but with Mahindra KUV100 and Scorpio will ensure that the electric car game is not limited to compact cars. Since Mahindra is known for cars with bigger dimensions especially in the SUV segment, cars like KUV100 electric will ensure that when the market is ready to look for electric cars in India they have all options to choose from.

The plans of the Indian Government to make India an all electric car market by 2030 could translate to all the manufacturers trying to work on electric variants of their existing models. This is the only reason why the rumours of an electric XUV500 have started ringing along with the Mahindra KUV100.

Price and Launch date of the Mahindra KUV100

The reports of the Indian car company working on electric models of the Scorpio and the Mahindra KUV100 suggest that they might be looking to showcase their electric car portfolio at the Auto Expo in Delhi in February 2018. The futuristic Mahindra Areo coupe with SUV like dimensions might also make a comeback with an electric motor and finally come out of the concept stage.

Mahindra might want to price the KUV100 competitively to rival the competition but the electric car is still coming at quite a premium as compared to the existing petrol and diesel powered model.
