The  electric vehicle revolution

EVs are being embraced the world over and with such a change that is being implemented across the globe, it appears, that slowly but steadily electric vehicles will be a mass selling product in the world.

One of the major challenges to make the electric variants a mass selling product is the cost of these vehicles. According to a report, the price of the electric variant of the Scorpio and XUV500 is expected to be considerably higher than the petrol and diesel variants of these SUVs by Mahindra. The electric Scorpio is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 12 lakh whereas the electric variant of Mahindra’s premium SUV – XUV500 is expected to be priced at about Rs 15 lakh.

Launch date

According to reports, India does not have the infrastructure to support EVs on a mass scale. Roughly, for electric vehicles to start plying on Indian roads, will take some two-three years. Once the EVs start offering a range of 150-200 km per charge, there are chances for the electric vehicles to pick up fast in India.
