Mahindra XUV 700 is a rumoured name for the Ssangyong Rexton which is coming to India with a Mahindra badge this time around. The car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 at the Mahindra pavilion and remained an eye catcher throughout the event. The XUV 700 will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour and we are really hoping Mahindra to price the car competitively. Earlier the car was rumoured to launch in 2019 but the latest reports reveal we might get the car in 2018 itself. Expect the Mahindra XUV 700 Launch Date to be somewhere near Diwali later this year.
Mahindra XUV 700 Comes With All The Goodies To Take On The Fortuner and Endeavour
Ssangyong Rexton is quite a premium car and comes with all the goodies you would expect in a car like that. The Mahindra XUV 700 gets a butch bumper and front grille with chrome inserts along with stylish LED headlamps. It is miles ahead in terms of styling than some other cars in the Mahindra portfolio like the XUV 500. The large wheel arches make the car look more dominating and the alloy wheel blends perfectly with the overall design language of the Mahindra XUV 700.
Coming to the inside, we might be a little bold and put it right ahead of the segment leader Toyota Fortuner too. Lavish use of faux leather makes the interiors of the Mahindra XUV 700 look much more premium. There is a huge infotainment display which comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto functionality and really manages to be the highlight on the inside. The wood inserts also blend in nicely to the overall design and we do hope it is all in there when the car finally comes to India.
Mechanically speaking, the Ssangyong Rexton or the Mahindra XUV 700 will come with a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel which makes somewhere near 178 BHP which puts it ahead of the Toyota Fortuner which makes 174 BHP of peak power. There is another 2.0-litre petrol engine which makes 222 BHP however, the likelihood of that coming to India is very low.
Mahindra XUV 700 Price in India
Mahindra XUV 700 is expected to launch somewhere near Diwali 2018 and will be the flagship product that the company sells in India. The Indian customers have been warming up to the SUVs and the segment that the Rexton will launch in already has established players like the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The first generation Rexton could not make a mark in India but the car is expected to lure in a lot more customers with the Mahindra badge on it.
Mahindra has been very competitive when it comes to pricing and a sharp pricing like we see on the XUV 500 can be expected for the Rexton as well. Expect the Mahindra XUV 700 price India to be somewhere close to 23 Lakhs which will make it a whopping 4 Lakh cheaper than the Toyota Fortuner.
However, all this is just a speculation as of now but we will finally get the official prices at the launch which is to happen somewhere around this festive season during Diwali.
