News of Fire break out in Chandigarh’s bank square in sector 17 has spread panic in the heart of the city. According to reports, around 8 fire tenders have already pressed to action from the Sector 17 Fire station and the other adjoining areas.
Fire breakout in Sector 17 Chandigarh
The fire broke out on the fourth floor of Punjab Financial Corporation building situated at the bank square in Sector 17, Chandigarh. The fire was so massive that it engulfed the whole floor within few minutes. The information of fire breakout was reported around 4:00 pm following which different teams were rushed to the spot which included 8 fire brigades from different fire stations.
The root cause of the fire breakout has not been found till now but the department is trying to search the cause of the fire. As the blazes increased panic gripped the area and the onlookers voluntarily started assisting the department in the execution of the rescue operation. Though no civilian was allowed to go near fire, people in the adjacent buildings were evacuated and rushed to safer places.
As per a report by Hindustan Times no reports of loss of life were reported till the filing of the report.
Recent fire incidents in Chandigarh
Recently fire in the administrative block of the Panjab University led to the loss of several important documents of the premier academic institution. Records for several years were gutted during the major fire break. In Panjab University fire breakout, eight fire tenders were pressed to action to bring the blaze under control and the process took more than three hours. All the important departments were situated in Dewan Anand Kumar Hall, at the first floor of the administrative block where the fire took place. Different accounts departments’ documents including grants, payments, planning and budget of the University were all gutted.
