Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno a Hit on Indian Roads | Check Out Why

There is no denying the fact that Maruti Suzuki Baleno is one of the top selling cars in India. With India being one of the major markets for Maruti Suzuki where every second car is a Maruti make its models such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto (Alto 800 and Alto k10), Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire have been leading the sales charts.

It was after the launch of Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno that turned the tables for the company. Maruti Suzuki Baleno entered the list of top 10 selling cars in India within few months of its launch and it escalated to claim the second position in the list within a period of 1 year.

Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno claims no 2 position

Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno pushed down the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire sedan to the third position to claim the second position in the top 10 selling cars in India in the month of March. Maruti affirmed in a statement that their premium hatchback Baleno crossed the 2 lakh unit toll in less than 24 months.

Maruti has also added that it is selling approximate 10, 000 units of Baleno every month since its debut in October 2015. To clinch the number 2 position the automaker sold 16,426 units of Baleno in March 2017 as compared to the 6,236 units sold in March 2016. The sale figures of Maruti Suzuki Baleno registered a growth of 163.40 per cent.

Baleno witnessed a steep rise in sales

GST rollout has affected all the business arenas including automobiles. The effects of GST was duly seen in the top 10 selling passenger vehicles. Where top selling cars like Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Renault Kwid and Hyundai Creta saw a decline in sales, cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Tiago saw a steep rise in sales. The reason for the steep rise in the sale is believed to be the old pending orders. Despite the ups and downs in the sale list Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire retained the top positions in the chart.

Maruti – The market leader

With 5-6 cars in the list of top 10 selling cars in India Maruti Suzuki is indeed the biggest car market leader in India. The market giant Maruti Suzuki reported 47.6 per cent market share in the domestic passenger vehicle market.
