Indo-Japanese car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has updated its SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system. The car maker has added the most popular Android Auto smartphone mirroring-app in its current product line-up. Most of the Maruti Suzuki cars that are sold in the Indian market will get the update soon.
The update has come from the car maker because smartphones are now an integral part of life and for better safety by reducing distraction while driving; most of the car manufacturers are developing infotainment systems that can easily sync with either Android-based phones or the iOS-based operating systems.
Maruti Suzuki cars to get the Android Auto smartphone mirroring-app
According to the report, almost all the Maruti Suzuki cars that are available through the Nexa dealership and few models that are available at the authorized Maruti Suzuki dealerships that come equipped with company’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system will get the come integrated with Android Auto feature. The existing car owners can get the new update installed in the existing SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system through an update. The owners can get this update installed in their vehicles at any authorized Maruti service center.

These cars from Maruti Suzuki will come equipped with Android Auto
According to the report, the cars that will come equipped with the Android Auto feature include the new S-Cross facelift, Ciaz facelift, hot hatchback Baleno, Ignis, sub compact SUV Vitara Brezza, MUV Ertiga and the newly launched compact sedan Dzire.
The report clearly mentions that the Android Auto feature will only be installed in the Maruti Suzuki cars that are outfitted with the Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system. This feature can be easily installed in the existing cars through an update that can be easily installed at any authorized Maruti Suzuki service center.
The automaker has rolled out the Android Auto update for the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system which is available on the top-end variants of the Maruti Suzuki line up. The models in the Maruti Suzuki product lineup that will get the feature include the Alpha & Zeta trim of the S-Cross, Alpha trim of the Ciaz, Baleno and Ignis, Z+ trim of the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and the newly launched Dzire.
Android auto in Maruti Suzuki cars to offer distraction-free driving experience
Maruti Suzuki car owners will be able to use their Android-based smartphones with the SmartPlay infotainment system once the Android Auto is updated on the infotainment system.
Post the update, Android-based smartphones can be easily connected to the infotainment system which would allow the owner to use features such as calling, voice recognition, SMS readout, navigation features and music playback of their Android smartphones through the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system of the Maruti car.
Maruti car owners can contact the nearest Maruti service centre to get this update installed into your car’s infotainment system. Until March 31, 2018, Maruti Suzuki will offer this service free of cost.
