The internet has been stormed with the leaked images of Maruti Celerio X car and now we finally have details for Maruti’s new Celerio X. The images of the production-ready car shed some light on the design and features of the car. It is a new facelifted version of the already existing Maruti Celerio. In a time where most premium hatchbacks have tried adding black plastic cladding to give a crossover kind of look to their vehicles, it seems like Maruti wants to stir things up in the small hatchback segment as well. The new Maruti Celerio X was photographed in a Maruti plant with heavy plastic cladding and generous use of black.
What is new in Maruti Celerio X by Suzuki:
The mechanical aspects of the new Celerio X remain unchanged. It has the same three cylinder engine that was present in the last Maruti Celerio. Power comes from the 998cc petrol engine which makes 67BHP of power and 90nm of torque. Maruti Celerio X is expected to come with only a petrol engine since the diesel powertrain was discontinued a few months ago. The new model will launch around the end of this year and there is no word if the existing model will be replaced or not. If the two cars co-exist expect the new Celerio x to be priced at a little premium. Some dealerships have already started taking bookings for the Maruti Celerio x for a feeble 10000 Rupees.
The new Celerio X will probably get bigger alloy wheels which may increase the ground clearance of the car by at least 20mm. It has black matte finish on the grille and cladding all around the vehicle. ABS and airbags are standard across the range and optional variants of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X will get the additional passenger airbags.
Celerio is a steady performer for Maruti Suzuki in India but the diesel variant that was introduced was heavily criticized. It was launched in 2014 and the sales have been declining due to no refreshes over the years. Maruti is hoping to change that with the Maruti Celerio X.
Price and launch date of the new Celerio X:
The new Celerio X by Maruti Suzuki will be launched at a premium of at least 30000-40000 over the existing Celerio in the Indian market. The price of the existing Celerio car that launched on the 5th October 2107 is 4.15 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The bookings of the car have been started at select dealerships at a cost of Rs. 10,000 and the deliveries of Maruti Celerio X are expected to start by the end of this month.
