Ignis Alpha, Maruti Suzuki’s Automatic Car Launched in India at Rs. 7 Lakh & It’s Cool

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Ignis Alpha with Automatic Gear Shift transmission. The top-spec of the Ignis Alpha will now be available with an Automatic transmission. Earlier, the automatic transmission in Ignis was only available with the Delta and Zeta variants but now the Ignis Alpha too will have an auto transmission option.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis Alpha Introduced In India

Maruti Ignis was launched in the beginning of 2017, and the car has been doing fairly well in India. It was reported that more than 27, 300 units of the Maruti Ignis have been sold till date since its launch and most of the consumers have opted for the petrol version of the Maruti Ignis. According to a report, more than 70 per cent of the buyers have opted for the petrol version of the Maruti Ignis. Approximately 27 per cent of the Maruti Ignis’ sales come from its automatic variants. The addition of the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) to its Alpha trim will make the Maruti Ignis more popular among millennials.

Maruti Ignis second car in Maruti’s portfolio

Maruti Ignis is the second car in the company profile to have an automatic transmission across its different engines. In addition to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Maruti Suzuki Ignis is the only car to have an automatic transmission available with both the petrol and diesel engines. Though Maruti Suzuki launched the new Dzire was with automatic transmission in top variants it has also added the Alpha variant of the Baleno petrol automatic to the list. Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga is the only car now that doesn’t have the two-pedal plus petrol engine option available in the fully loaded variant.

Maruti’s endeavour in AMT technology

Maruti Suzuki was the first automaker to debut with the famed AMT technology with its Celerio in the country. It is worth mentioning here that the two pedal technique has made automatics more affordable in India. Gradually the gap between the fuel efficiencies between the manual as well as the automatic variants has been bridged. In terms of mileage, the automatic variants are neck-and-neck with the manually driven cars nowadays. Maruti Suzuki has equipped most of its cars with automatic transmission to offer more options to its buyers. Among Maruti cars, the AMT can be had in the Maruti Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio, Swift Dzire, Baleno, Ertiga and the Ciaz.
