The SUV segment is one of the fastest growing segments in the country in the automobile industry. After recognizing the potential in the segment, the largest car manufacturer in India – Maruti Suzuki, has decided to add more products to its current line up in the segment. The automaker plans to launch a brand new SUV in the coming year to beef up its product portfolio in India and to seize a significant share in the segment. It has been reported that Maruti feels that there is a great requirement for the company to expand in the SUV (sports utility vehicle) segment, which is growing at a steady pace.
Compact SUV – Vitara Brezza will soon have a sibling
Maruti Suzuki – the market leader in the passenger vehicle segment is gradually filling in the gaps in its product portfolio. The automaker has seized a lion’s share of the car market and is reigning on the numero uno position in the country for a long time now with most of its cars positioned in the top slots in the top 10-selling passenger vehicle’s list in India. With the SUV segment booming at a very fast pace, the carmaker is planning to add more cars in the SUV segment in the current lineup in India which is the fifth-largest market for automobiles in the world.
Maruti Suzuki has recognized that it needs to expand its sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment. Currently, Maruti Suzuki only has the compact SUV Vitara Brezza in the segment in the complete product line-up that competes against other rivals in the segment and is the top seller. Maruti has realized that it is underrepresented in the segment in India and it needs to expand to take on the increasing competition. It appears that the compact SUV – Vitara Brezza will soon have a sibling to support the leader in the segment to take on the other biggies.
Competition for the New SUV by Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch a mid-size SUV which will be built on the lines of the segment best-seller Hyundai Creta and is likely to be launched in 2019. The new SUV from Maruti Suzuki will take on competitors such as the Renault Captur, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari, Nissan Terrano, the Honda BR-V and other similar mid-sized SUVs in the segment. The automaker recently showcased a concept -Future S and it is reported that the new SUV by the car maker is likely to be built on similar lines.
