Production of the current model of the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been discontinued. With the discontinuation of the current model of the Swift, there will be no new Swift on the roads after January 1, 2018. The production has been stopped to boost the production of the all-new Swift. India’s largest car manufacturer is all set to launch the next generation Swift in India and it will be unveiled at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi.
Last Maruti Suzuki Swift on assembly line with an emotional message
As per a report on Navbharat Times, a picture has gone viral of the last Swift assembled at the production line at the Maruti Suzuki manufacturing plant. The company workers are seen at the production line posing with the last Swift at the assembly line. The unit is seen posing with the car.
According to the report, the car also carried a message on the hood that stated, “‘Last Swift- E07460 A great journey ends here … For a fresh start … The best car by the great team. Date: December 23, 2017. Bye bye Swift.”
The picture here indicates that production of the current generation Swift has been stopped to make way for the Third Generation Swift. The automaker is all set to showcase the all-new Swift this year at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo and it will be launched soon.
Maruti Suzuki Swift’s journey in India
Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched in India in 2005. The facelift of the of Maruti Suzuki Swift was unveiled in 2007. While the automaker initially launched the Swift with a 1.3-liter petrol engine, the last facelift variant of the Swift got a major mechanical change in 2011, when Maruti Suzuki introduced a 1.2-liter series engineer and replaced the 1.3-liter petrol engine.
The outgoing model of Swift, which is the second generation of the popular hatchback Swift, offered better mileage, better performance and more mileage than the first generation Swift. The Second Generation Swift offered better style and features but it received the Midlife Facelift in 2014. This midlife facelift variant of the Swift was currently being sold in the market before the automaker stopped its production.
Features of the next generation Swift
Third Generation Maruti Swift model shares its HEARTECT platform with the next generation Dzire that was launched in India couple of months back. As per the report, the all-new Swift will come equipped with projector headlamps, sporty alloy wheels, fresh exterior and interior design and better mileage and performance.
