Here’s How 2 Men from Punjab are Demanding Govt. Job in Chandigarh

It is hard to believe the fact that people in Punjab are crazy for government jobs. Here’s the story of 2 men who desperately want a job and are ready to go to any extent for their demands. But this time they are in Chandigarh to make their demands heard. Here’s their story:

Two unemployed teachers hailing from Gurdaspur climbed up an 80 feet high mobile tower positioned in a high-security zone in Chandigarh’s Sector 3. At the crack of dawn, Deepak Kumar (35) and Rakesh Kumar (29) climbed their way up and demanded permanent jobs as they had cleared Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Packed with woolens, food and a bottle of petrol, they demanded regular employment as teachers with the Punjab Government.

The pair who climbed the tower around 3.30 AM were screaming slogans and demanded to meet Prakash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister of Punjab. Police came to know about the incident around 7 am when the duo were able to gather some audience for themselves. Police team reached the spot and sealed the area. An ambulance, a fire tender along with a boom ladder were rushed to the spot.

It’s their 4th Time!

The duo has by now perfected the art of climbing. This is the 4th time they protested this way; the last being 10 days ago atop a water tank at Badal’s native village in Muktsar district.

Their Demands!

The two men were holding a banner that requested the government to fill vacant seats in the reserved categories as ordered by Badal. Keeping this in mind, the union wants full recruitment of all ETT holders who have cleared the eligibility test between 2011 – 2015. Claims were also made that the CM had promised jobs by 25 October, 2016.

According to Daljit Singh Cheema, Education minister, Punjab govt. does not have any vacancy. He further confirmed that TET is an eligibility test and is no way a job guarantee.

Security Personnel of Punjab Bhawan Questioned

The tower where the duo caught attention is located near Punjab Bhawan and is barely 100 feet from  Parkash Singh Badal’s official residence. This raises concern regarding the security in and around the area. Security personnel were caught napping as they did not notice when the teachers entered and climbed the tower carrying petrol. The guards were caught napping completely unaware of the drama happening around them.

With this incident, questions have been raised on the security of Punjab and Haryana CM’s houses that are located in Sector 3 in Chandigarh.

Their Bags were Packed

The pair was carrying 2 backpacks full of biscuits, packed food, dry fruits and bottles of water. They had woolens and food which could easily serve them for 5 days. They had entered the premises with complete planning and threatened to burn themselves if their demands weren’t met.
