Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala is set to host the fifth edition of The Miss Himalaya Pageant 2017. The Orissa born founder of Miss Himalaya Pageant who now resides in Himachal Pradesh, Lobsang Wangyal believes the Pageant is not just a competition but an event which helps in empowering the women from the Himalyan region. He hopes that the pageant acts like a launching pad for all talented contestants from Himachal and other Himalayan regions who want to touch new heights and be seen as modern young women. Lobsang also stressed that the Miss Himalaya Pageant, Himachal Pradesh will also help in making a difference in the community.
About the Miss Himalaya Pageant 2017, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh:
This is the first time that the Pageant is seeing a competition between nine girls. This is the highest number of finalists since the conceptualization of the Himachal based Miss Himalaya Pageant. The 2017 iteration of the event is to be held on the 7th and the 8th of October. The competition rounds will commence on the 7th at Tipa, Mcleodganj Himachal Pradesh and the finale rounds and results will be held on the same venue the next day. Miss Himalaya Pageant’s results are based on public voting which is open and will conclude on the noon of 8th October. The winner of the Himachal based Miss Himalaya Pageant is rewarded with a cash prize of 1 Lakh Indian Rupees followed by 50000 and 25000 for the first and second runner up respectively.

The 2017 iteration of the Miss Himalaya Pageant is historical to the hosting state of Himachal Pradesh. Eight out of the total nine contestants of the Pageant this year hail from Himachal Pradesh. The only other participant is Tashi Lhamo who is coming all the way from Kathmandu, Nepal. The full list of the participants of the Miss Himalaya Pageant 2017 is:

The Miss Himalaya Pageant that is held in Himachal Pradesh each year is currently in its sixth year but could not be held in 2013 due to lack of funds. According to sources the Himachal Pradesh tourism has assisted in the funding of the event. Sri Sudhir Sharma, the honorable Minister of Urban Development of the Government of Himachal Pradesh has also supported the Miss Himalaya Pageant throughout.
