Chandigarh: A Mother Jumps into Sukhna Lake Along With Her Daughter to Commit Suicide

Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake is one of the beautiful places in the tricity where a large number of residents, as well as the tourists, throng every day but unfortunately, there are many who resort it to commit suicide. Recently, a 60-year-old mother jumped into the Sukhna Lake along with her 39-year-old daughter and committed suicide. 

Mother & daughter commits suicide at Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake

The mother and the daughter duo who took the plunge in Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake decided to end their lives and took such a major step. Both of them committed suicide at night near the banyan tree. The police patrolling on the Sukhna Lake tried to save both of them. However, the mother died due to drowning while the daughter survived and was rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16 for the treatment. The doctors at the hospital declared the mother as brought dead and the daughter is still under observation.

What police says about the suicide at Sukhna Lake

The victims hailed from Panchkula and the mother has been identified as Usha Sharma, while Aarti was her daughter’s name. According to the police reports, both the mother and her daughter were in the state of depression. Usha, Aarti’s mother was a single parent while Aarti was not keeping well for some time. However, the police are doing the appropriate investigation in this suicide case but they could not find any suicide note at the spot of the suicide or at the victims’ place.

How to deal with depression

Depression has become the worst reason for the majority of suicide cases in Chandigarh. If you ever feel depressed and low, talk to your parents and friends about it. If you feel that you cannot open up to your parents and friends, try taking profession help from psychologists, counsellors and psychiatrists who will not only help you with medication but will make you undergo talk therapy too.

Whenever you feel low, don’t isolate yourself. In fact, socialise, practice yoga and other physical activities, take proper diet and sound sleep of at least eight hours. If you will follow these steps, then you can surely overcome depression, which can proportionately lesson such cases in Chandigarh.
