This Brutal Murder in Chandigarh Will Leave You Shocked

While everyone was enjoying the festival of colors, Holi 2017 turned out to be a nightmare for residents of Saketri village. Varinder Singh, a 26-year-old man was murdered by a group of 10-12 men on Monday around 8 PM. Varinder Singh’s cousin, Avtar Singh was the intended target.

As per residents and eyewitness, Manmeet Singh Waraich, son of councillor Kuljeet Waraich led the mob. Manmeet’s Singh cousin Harmanpreet was also in the mob.

Avtar who was the intended target said that he got a phone call from Manmeet at 6.49pm on Monday and he threatened Avtar that he will kill his family. Avtar said that he did not pay heed to the phone call thinking that the issue can be tackled peacefully and maturely.

How did It happen?

Avtar said that around 8.15 pm, 10-12 men in three cars stopped outside his house. All of them were armed with sharp-edged weapons and fired twice in the air. Varinder rushed outside to solve the matter and became their target. Varinder was attacked by four men with swords and sharp-edged weapons.

Varinder’s maternal uncle said that they locked up Varinder’s legs by rolling up the rear window panes of the car and dragged him for almost a km. He said that his nephew was so badly smashed that his family could not even recognize him. Varinder was rushed to PGI where he was declared brought dead. Varinder was the only son of his parents.

The Accused Have Been Arrested

The two main accused – Manmeet, a resident of Bhainsa Tibba, Panchkula and Harmanpreet Singh, a resident of Santé Majra, Mohali have been arrested on Tuesday from Samrala.

Avtar who was the intended target said that a year he was bashed with bats after he and his team won a cricket match in Bhainsa Tibba. He said that he had lodged a complaint at the Mansa Devi Complex Police Station

Every sport should be played with sportsman’s spirit. Everyone should know that in sports one has to win and one has to lose.  It is really sad to see that a Sports-Clash became a reason for the murder.
