Shimla, the state capital of Himachal Pradesh will soon have a National Law University at Ghanahatti. Shimla has always been on the forefront in terms of education with state-of-art institutes and colleges. Adding another feather to its cap, Shimla, the queen of hills will soon boost of a National level Law University (NLU).
The announcement about Shimla getting a NLU was made by the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh and Chief Justice of Shimla High Court, Justice Mir. It was stated that the National law university Shimla would be directly under the High Court and it would start 3 year and 5 year Law sessions from the coming year. The total project cost has been pegged at a whooping Rs. 400 Crore.
Justice Mir added that the institution will be one of its kind and will have well furnished hostels, an administrative block, staff residences and even an independent helipad.
Location of National Law University, Shimla
The location for the upcoming Law university at Shimla has been finalized at Ghanahati. It is situated at a distance of 15 Kilometres from main Shimla city. The area marked for the construction of the university is quite big. A judicial academy will also be set up over here in the near future.
