After New Ford EcoSport, Here’s New 2018 Model of Ford Figo & Ford Aspire

It has been a busy quarter for Ford with the launch of new Ford Ecosport in India this week. The company has been shying away from admitting to launch the new Ford Figo in India but the rumours have started making more sense since the facelift was spied testing in Maharashtra. Ford is giving a mid-cycle update to Ford Ecosport’s younger sibling Ford Figo that has not been doing well in the Indian Automobile market. The outgoing model just launched two years ago but failed to impress the Indian car buyer. The Ford Ecosport is the only car in the company’s portfolio that manages to climb the sale charts.

Ford Ecosport’s new dragon engine will come in the new Ford Figo too

The younger sibling of the Ecosport Ford Figo facelift was spied with a few cosmetic changes like an updated grille and redesigned front and rear bumpers that are more in line with Ford’s new design language.

Under the hood, mechanical changes include the new engines for both the Ford Figo and the Ford Figo Aspire. It is the same engine that will make its debut in the Ford Ecosport. The new dragon series engine is an update 1.5-litre petrol unit that replaces the older 1.5-litre engine from Ford. The new Ford Ecosport engine produces 123BHP of power and 10% more torque than the engine it replaces. The Ford Figo and Ford Figo Aspire may, however, get a 1.2-litre petrol unit that is built on the same dragon platform.

Also, an all-new infotainment system will make a debut which will come with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The same unit will come on the Ford Ecosport when it launches on the 28th of October in India.

Ford Figo and Figo Aspire will be launched after the Ford Ecosport

The Ford Figo and the Ford Figo Aspire sit below the Ford Ecosport in the company’s portfolio in India. The two cars have however failed to do the trick that Ford Ecosport has managed to do in the country. The Ford Ecosport, when launched, was one of the only compact SUVs in the market along with the Renault Duster. It provided the luxury and comfort of an SUV in the compact hatchback like dimensions of the car. The Ford Figo and Figo Aspire may not come before early next year and might launch at a premium of 20,000 Indian Rupees than the outgoing model.
