New Hatchbacks From Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda and Volkswagen Launching in 2018

2018 is going to be the year of launches and unveiling of new, facelift and next-generation versions of four-wheelers. With much-awaited 2018 Auto Expo around the corner, most of the car manufacturers are all set to unveil their concept models as well as production models at the auto show. Though there will be several launches in the Indian auto industry this year, but here is the list of most-anticipated vehicles that major car manufacturers – Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Honda will be launching in India.

All-new Hyundai Santro

The discontinued Hyundai Santro had been one of the most-selling products in the Hyundai lineup. The tall hatchback from the second largest car manufacturer in India had established an image in the mindsets of every Indian. As per few reports, it was because of Santro that the South-Korean auto brand became the second largest car manufacturer in India. Though Hyundai discontinued the tall hatchback due to increasing competition in the segment but now the automaker is planning to re-launch the car to revive the nameplate for capturing more market share.

Hyundai Elite i20 (Facelift)

Elite i20, Hyundai’s premium hatchback, will be the first car from the Hyundai stable to get a facelift this year. The car has not received any major change since its launch and hence the automaker is planning to launch a new version of its premium hatchback in India.

It has been reported that the facelift version of the hatchback will not carry any mechanical changes but major changes are expected in the front end as well as in the rear styling. There is a chance that Hyundai might introduce a 4-speed automatic gearbox in the facelift version of Hyundai Elite i20 facelift.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most awaited hatchbacks from the largest car manufacturer in India. The next generation Swift that was initially unveiled in Japan in 2016, is all set to make its way to the Indian market this year.

Under the hood changes are not expected in the new Swift but the brand new design, refreshed interiors, redesigned bumpers, and numerous technical changes are poised to make the new Swift a desirable hatchback in the country.  The next-generation Swift is likely to compete against the Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10 and Tata Tiago.

Volkswagen Polo (Facelift) 

Volkswagen recently launched the all-new 2018 Polo premium hatchback in the international market. It was earlier reported that the same variant might make its way to India but due to pricing limitation, the all-new Polo may not be able to be launched in India.The carmaker is now planning to introduce a facelift version of the Volkswagen Polo, that may be introduced in the Indian auto market this year.

2018 Honda Jazz (Facelift)

The facelift version of Honda’s premium hatchback – Jazz, was unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, and now, the automaker is planning to launch the same in India this year.

The Jazz facelift that was showcased by Honda Cars India at the motor show last year gets redesigned bumpers and taillight in addition to a new grille. The company has not yet revealed any date to launch the same, but it will launch the facelifted Jazz this year only.
