Hyundai i20 and Baleno have been in a power struggle ever since the launch of the latter and from what it looks like they are going to have new company in the form of Nissan Micra. Nissan launched the updated Micra globally last year and plans to bring the car to India pretty soon. However, unlike the previous generation the car has grown in size and will now take on the Hyundia i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchbacks.
The new Nissan Micra will be a premium offering than the previous car but heavy localization will keep the price in check and in line with the Hyundai i20 or the Honda Jazz.
Hyundai i20 Rivaling Nissan Micra
The new Nissan Micra that will be taking on the Hyundai i20 pretty soon is a much more premium car as showcasd globally. However, to keep the prices affordable Nissan has decided to use a different platform altogether which is the cheaper CMF-A platform. Several other premium features are also expected to be shed when the car comes to take on the Hyundai i20 and Baleno.
However, the exterior will be exactly the same as the global car which honestly can give worse nightmares to the Hyundai i20 which has gotten a little subtle after the facelift. Coming to the features, a package similar to what Maruti offers in the Baleno is expected. ABS and Airbags might come in Standard while higher variants will get LED lights, touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate controls. Engine options of the Hyundai i20 rival are expected to be the same as before but will be much more refined this time around.
Nissan Micra Needs to Achieve Better Pricing Than the Hyundai i20 or Maruti Baleno
The Hyundai i20a and the Maruti Baleno are the most loved cars in the premium hatchback segment so much so that they leave very little room for the Honda Jazz to breathe. The Nissan Micra might come with better looks and features but the main thing that will help the sales of the car is the pricing which needs to be lower than that of the Maruti baleno and Hyundia i20.
