Royal Enfield is planning to launch a new variant of its motorcycle Thunderbird in India. The new variant will come with a bigger 500 cc engine and named as Thunderbird 500X. The new variant of Thunderbird has been spotted by Rushlane at a dealership. The earlier version of the motorcycle Thunderbird 500 is also popular among the Royal Enfield lovers.
The new Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X will be featured with a host of updated features and cosmetic changes. The new variant will come with a new handlebar, single piece seat and alloy wheels. Royal Enfield will launch the motorcycle in bright new colors like candy red, white, yellow, and electric blue. The engine, suspensions and exhaust are also finished with matte black colour. Bright Colors with black theme gives the motorcycle an attractive new look. The handlebar is also flatter than the previous variant of Thunderbird 500.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X New Features
Thunderbird 500 X will be featured with 9 spoke alloy wheels and tubeless tyres and matching reflectors to offer it a sporty look. The new design of seat and much flatter handlebar will offer the rider a relaxed posture and seating position. The headlamps and tail light are the same as the standard variant of Thunderbird 500. Disc brakes are given on both the front and rear wheels to handle the braking duties. Also, the silencer is painted with matte black colour rather than standard chrome finish as given in the previous variant.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 X Engine Specifications
Thunderbird 500X will be powered by a 499 cc single cylinder BS IV engine that churns out 27.2 bhp of power and 41.3 Nm of peak torque. The engine in Thunderbird 500X is mated to a 5-speed transmission gearbox. The suspension set up remains the same as the standard variant with telescopic front shockers and twin gas charged rear shockers.
As revealed in the spied images, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 X appears to be in the full production phase and is expected to hit the markets in January or February 2018. The standard model of Thunderbird 500 is priced at Rs.1.9 lakh. The new Thunderbird 500X will be priced a bit higher than the existing variant because of the alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.
