India’s largest-selling car manufacturer- Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is all set to launch the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV later this year. It is being speculated that the automaker will launch the all-new MPV in India in a few months. Contemporary and appealing looks
Much similar to the next generation Swift Dzire and Swift that have gone through a complete makeover but have retained the DNA the new Ertiga is too likely to follow suit by getting a progressive design and retaining the DNA of the current model. It has been reported the next generation Ertiga will get bolder looks.
As per the earlier reports, the new Ertiga will be noticeably larger in size than the existing model. It has also been reported that the car will be longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model.
More Standard Safety Features and Mileage
With the change in the safety parameters, the automaker will offer several active and safety features as a standard fitment in the all-new Ertiga. Similar to the Swift and Dzire the Ertiga will also be manufactured on the lightweight HEARTECT platform for higher structural rigidity. ABS (anti-lock braking system) and airbags will come as standard across all the variants. With more safety features the new Ertiga will surely be safer than the existing model. The car will also get ISOFIX child seat mounts.
With reduced weight and slight tuning in the engine the new Ertiga is expected to churn out more mileage than the current model.
More Interior Space and advance Equipment
Though it has not been officially announced but if reports are to be believed the new Ertiga is expected to get several cosmetic features for the added appeal. While only the top-end models are expected to get LED DRLs with projector headlamps, the increased legroom and cabin space will offer same comfort in all the variants.
The car will also offer a brand new infotainment system that will support both Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
2018 Ertiga on a New Platform and New Engines
It has been reported that the next gen Ertiga 2018 will also get new petrol and turbo diesel engines. The units will produce more power than the outgoing units. Suzuki is developing a new in-house unit for the diesel variant. Similar to the recently launched Swift, Maruti is expected to offer AMT option on the Ertiga 2018 on both the petrol and the diesel engine.

Several spy images have revealed that the new Ertiga is being tested in the last phase. In addition to the spy images numerous reports claim that the MPV will be launched by the auto giant in August this year. Maruti Suzuki is likely to price the next gen Ertiga a little higher than the outgoing model but the MPV will still remain the most economical in the segment.
