Nirbhaya Case Judgement | Verdict Gives Death Sentence To All 4 Convicts

Nirbhaya Case of 2012 in Delhi finally gets a closure in the form of imparting justice to the victim and her family. The Supreme Court in its verdict which got released today has awarded “Death sentence” to the four convicts who committed the heinous crimes of all times. Terming the Nirbhaya Case as “Rarest of rare cases” that occurred in 2012 in Delhi was inhuman and came from an altogether different world, Supreme Court which was the apex authority in deciding the punishment for those who were found guilty finally denied the “mercy” plea requested by the convicts of the Nirbhaya rape case in Delhi in 2012.

Justice Prevailed in the End – Nirbhaya gets a closure

The 23-yr old girl who was brutally raped by the convicts in 2012 in Delhi died after 15 days of the shocking crime after battling her life vs death struggle in a Singapore hospital. The rape victim and her family demanded and deserved justice which led to mass mobilisation of crowd not at a regional or national level but stirred the people around the globe. Finally, the apex court gave out justice in awarding death sentence to the four convicts who were a part of the terrifying incident. Chills go down our spines even now after 5 years of the crime we try and recall as to what happened that December night in Delhi in the year 2012.

About the Convicts

Sticking by the notion, ” Injustice Anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere “. Convicts of the Nirbhaya case including Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma,  Mukesh Singh have been given death sentence by Supreme Court as a consequence of the crime they committed. Ram Singh, the fifth convict was found dead in the prison years ago.

A juvenile who has now been released after trials conducted by juvenile justice board by keeping him in a remand room though has been given a chance to reform himself post the rehabilitation carried out on him. The convicts had even filed “mercy plea” to reduce the punishment intensity in the Nirbhaya’s brutal rape case of 2012, but court dismissed their request and instead issued “death sentence” for them today.

Death Sentence verdict for Nirbhaya case convicts

One cannot be undone what has been done, but at least a deterrent needed to be served in plate for those to consume who happen to disrupt the societal peace and harmony. Teaching a lesson to the unscrupulous elements of the society, giving a verdict of “Death Sentence” was the least the court could offer in terms of imparting justice to Nirbhaya who had left for heavenly abode post the crime.

The brutal gang-rape followed by the murder of the 23-year old medical student in National Capital Delhi in 2012 had caused “doppler’s effect” of waves that engulfed the entire nation by taking things in its stride to demand Justice for Nirbhaya or “The fearless” as they called her. Yes, justice has been imparted.

The big question that arises now after justice to ‘delhi gang rape case of Nirbhaya in 2012’ is, do we need to fight for justice like this everytime a Nirbhaya dies of brutality of society? Or can we curb it beforehand? What is most essential, justice after brutality or curb the crime?
