Nissan all Set to Launch Toyota Fortuner’s Rival – Nissan Terra | Spied Pictures, Features and More

A new Nissan SUV has been recently spied testing on road which appears to be rivaling the existing segment leaders – the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The spied SUV has been identified as the Nissan Terra and was recently spied without a camouflage.

Images of Nissan Terra, which is being predicted as a rival to the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner, have been leaked, and is doing rounds on the digital platform. The new SUV by Nissan – Nissan Terra, has been spotted without camouflage and as per the report the spied model of the SUV is believed to be a China-only model.

Amid much speculation about the Nissan SUV’s name, the spied images reveal that the automaker has named the new SUV as the ‘Terra’. There was a similar model from the company, which was earlier being sold in the US market until 2015 and on the other hand the Japanese model was being sold under brand name the ‘Paladin’. The spied images reveal the automaker has adopted the badge name Nissan ‘Terra’ for the new SUV, for the market.

Design of the new Nissan Terra

Most of the SUVs in the segment including the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, as well as, the Ford Endeavour, share their design with their respective siblings’ pick-up design. Likewise, the Nissan Terra, which appears to be really different from its sibling but is reported to be based on the Navara’s ladder-frame chassis.

The grille and headlights of the new SUV follow the current design language of the automaker – Nissan. At the same time, an upward sweeping theme is also visible through the spied images with the large glasshouse on the Nissan SUVs which is currently being sold at several international markets.

On the rear side of the Nissan Terra, the images showcase a simpler design. The Nissan SUV gets horizontal tail-lamps blended with chrome trims on the tailgate. As the front fog lights are missing in the spied images, The new SUV  appears to be a lower-spec model of the Terra.

Under the hood of the Nissan Terra, likely to be launched in India

The seven-seat, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner rival Nissan Terra SUV is likely to be powered by a 2.5-litre petrol and a 2.3-litre diesel engine. While the China-spec petrol model is expected to generate 184hp, the four-cylinder diesel unit is likely to be tuned to generate two different power options – 158hp and 187hp. The automaker might offer the options of a rear-wheel and four-wheel drive in the Terra.
