HMD Global launched the Nokia 8 in India last week after launching a slew of mediocre spec phones on a slightly higher price tag this year. Considering the fate of Nokia 2, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 we had anticipated a similar story for the Nokia 8 as well. But Nokia did manage to surprise the fans with some outstanding pricing of the phone and still managing to equip it with all the top end specs.
Features of the Nokia 8:
5.3″ QuadHD display
13 MP Main Camera with OIS & another 13MP Monochrome lens
Snapdragon 835 Processor
Nokia 8 has a 13MP front camera
Corning Gorilla glass protection for the screen
Fingerprint sensor
Barometer
3.5mm Jack
Hybrid Dual Sim supported by Nokia 8.
4 GB of ddr4 ram and 64 GB of storage
IP54 rating
3090 mAh battery that supports qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0
Competition of the Nokia 8:
Nokia 8 competes with some other flagships from the likes of Samsung, LG and Apple. However, when it comes to price these smartphones with almost the same amount of features cost an extra 20000INR. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG V30 both get the same amount of RAM and the same processor as of Nokia 8. So on the performance front they are pretty much identical.
But when it comes to price the Oneplus 5 and the soon to be launched Mi Mix2 are similarly priced and do make a strong case against Nokia 8. They both although have a huge disadvantage and that is the negligible presence of offline stores and service centres. This is where the Nokia 8 trumps them. Nokia has a huge offline presence in the country and practically a service centre in almost all small towns.
With the superb pricing of the Nokia 8 and the trust score the brand name Nokia brings in, it is hard to look at any other phone in the market irrespective of the budget. Arguably the Nokia 8 destroys its competition and also the phones in the segment above.
Price and availability of the Nokia 8:
The Nokia 8 has been on sale in India for a week at a price of 36,999INR. It is available both online and offline and offers a great value of money that the Indian customers are looking for.
