After Chandigarh, Now Parks in Panchkula to Get Open Air Gyms

Chandigarh is among a few cities in India to have parks with open-air gyms as the city believes in rendering healthier and greener environment to the society. The first open air gym came up at Shanti Kunj in Sector 16.

On the similar lines, the adjoining city of Panchkula is all set to come up with open-air gyms at its public parks. The district administration has planned a project where all major public parks in Panchkula will get open air gym which would be free for anyone to use.

As per the plan, the district administration will start with the parks in four villages of Panchkula district in the first phase. Later, the project will cover with other existing parks in various sectors of Panchkula. The district administration has promised to provide gym equipment. Though the approval for the project and its funds are yet to be received by the government.

Panchkula Villages to Have Open-air Gyms in 1st Phase

As per the plan, villages that will have open- air gymnasium set up in the first phase are:

  • Burj Kotiyan
  • Bhanvli
  • Manak
  • Tabra
  • Ganeshpur Goriya villages

The idea for setting up an open-air gym in public park is to bring the sophisticated gym equipment accessible to all common people who cannot afford to go to expensive gyms. The services will be free for public in these parks. Parks of other districts of Haryana including Panipat, Jind and Faridabad will be next to get a makeover in the second phase.

Chandigarh’s open-air gyms are a great success

Last year, the Chandigarh Administration had commenced same initiative of an open-air gymnasium in Sector 16, which was a great success. The residents liked the concept and many other such parks were upgraded with the facility of open air gym.

Everyone is hoping for the same responses from Panchkula parks. These types of initiative not only develops the infrastructure but helps the people to inculcate holistic approach towards life.
