In a move to get more international students and to provide world class infrastructure to the existing ones, Panjab University Chandigarh has decided to come with a new hostel specially dedicated to international students studying on the campus.
The new hostel for international students will be self-financed
As per the plan, no grant will be sought from the central government or any other body to build this new hostel. Panjab University has decided to build this hostel on a self-financed modal. It means that the cost of the building construction and other expanses will be borne by University itself and cost will be covered through the hostel fee in the coming years. At present there is no separate hostel for international students at Panjab University.

The new hostel for international students will be a world class hostel with attached bathroom and kitchen for every room. There will be 60 rooms with dual sharing and 8 single occupancy rooms. All rooms will be fully air-conditioned. Apart from 68 rooms for students, there will be 15 extra guest rooms for visiting families of the students.
As per the record of 2014-15 session, there are 146 international students from 15 different countries who are pursuing their education at the Panjab University campus in Chandigarh. The fee for this new hostel has not been decided yet.
