For a long time, PEC University of Technology situated Chandigarh has been demanding IIT status being granted to the deemed University for it fulfils all the requisite criteria to become one. UT administration along with other competent authorities under Ministry of Human Resource & Development were convinced on all grounds but the infrastructure. The infrastructure facility inside Chandigarh’s PEC University of Technology is still not up to the mark to make it IIT-Chandigarh as of now.

As PEC University of Technology turns 100 in the year 2021, it would be dream come true for all who have seen PEC University of Technology in Chandigarh to have evolved and transformed from a young institution under the Panjab University to become a separate technological University of its own. Here’s what all will take to transform this adolescent PEC University of Technology in Chandigarh to become an adult of IIT-Chandigarh soon.

From PEC To IIT-Chandigarh | Here’s What All Would Change

From its year of establishment to the current, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh has been a major crowd puller of young enthusiasts who wish to study engineering from the prestigious education institution cum technical University. Fulfilling all the criteria including the academic curriculum and past trends, there is no hitch to making PEC University of Technology Chandigarh into an IIT. But, it is on account of poor infrastructural facilities in terms of labs, dormitories and hostels of the PEC University of Technology that it lags behind in achieving the status of an Indian Institute of Technology. The Rs. 100 crore grant by UT administration to the Chandigarh’s PEC University of Technology has been made to improve the existing infrastructure to make it clear all the standards of the testing to become IIT-Chandigarh under the MHRD.

This would improve facilities within the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh along with the placement offers received right now by the graduates of the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh which is expected to go higher in near future when it becomes IIT-Chandigarh. It would make the PEC University of Technology Chandigarh a global institution by improving its branding with invites from Tier-1 core firms offering jobs to fresh graduates from the technical institute.

All we hope and pray is, this upgradation happens soon so that Chandigarh gets another feather to the cap of having an IIT.
